Okay, so what would you say if the car will start, but won t run when the battery is disconnected? The alternator is good, that s been confirmed after three different alternators growls.
Mine quit on my beetle going mph. Replaced and it never ran so good!
I miss that annoying song my gti made. Awesome video bro! How do you keep you engine bay so clean. Steam?
I like how clean is this engine, good job
What if the glow lights come on and the engine light on and my tdi still won t start?
I have a jetta tdi i dont have the relay so which one is it?
The trick with the v worked for me. When i took the power from the plunger, the car died. Glad i watched this video and saved some money. Thanks again for the in depth diagnostic.
Good job. My jetta just starting to run rough and some times won t start. No glow plug or cel light come on. I had a spare maf sensor and tried it no good. Tried a coolant temp sensor no good. So that makes more since on the rough idle at random probably not enough voltage at the shut down sol to keep it open for fuel to flow thanks.
Hi. My car had the same problem, but the shutoff valve is good, and i already bought a rele, my car sometimes works well but sometime it shutoff when on the street, it can be the black box on the right upper corner on the video minute ?
I got a fuel questions for if youre able to talk
Ok dumb question but i just picked up a tdi, and that silver round thing, should there be a hose on that tip sticking out, mine had a hose laying onto of the engine with a screw in the end lol so took it out and put it to that round thing. As it seem to be just the right size for that, but not sure if it goes there hah
Any chance relay could also throw an automatic transmission into limp mode? I have the no start issue but it ll start after it sits for a while. No glow plug light when it doesn t start. Then it ll magically work.
This video is great, i had a no start condition that started out very intermittently then got increasingly worse until my car finally failed to start completely. I took my car to maple hill auto group in kalamazoo michigan for them to diagnose my no start condition, they charged me and told me that my car needed a ecm. I talked to the technician that worked on my car and he told me that he started it by removing a relay relay and using a jumper wire across two of the terminals. At that point i asked him, if he could remove the relay and bypass it, was he sure that the relay wasn t bad? He told me no, it s the ecm. I took my car home and started working on it myself and doing research on everything that i could. In the process i ran across this video, i bought a new relay and my car fired right up. I ve driven it a couple thousand miles now without a hiccup. Thank you dieselworld!
Thanks for posting! I have no power coming from my battery to the interior of the car, i m talking the only communication is a small red led battery shape on my cluster, but nothing else and i bought the batter new a week ago. The car is a def fixer upper with cracked worn ignition harness and a slew of other issues but i was able to drive it a few times with these issues before. Anyone know of anything that could shut off power to everything despite being hooked up to a new battery?
Note the fuel shutoff sol when energize prevent fuel from going back to the fuel filter then the tank. When you de energize the sol you open a path for the fuel to go out of the pressurize inj pump, inside the pump you have a van type pump which draw the fuel from the filter and pushes it to the hi pressure side of the pump, notice the location of the sol, right above the hi pressure block lines if you cannot built pressure at that point you wont have injection so the engine shutdown, energize it then pressure built and overcome the needle valve of the injector, lift it off it seats inject fuel. Cheers
Hi russell, your youtube video was really terrific in helping out on hundred percent. Everything was true on your video on my jetta tdi. My car wouldn t start. I changed the relay. I might just start right up. Thanks for the great video.
Yep, just happened to me last night. I did not have a spare because i didn t know that i should have had one with me. Lol characteristic no check engine light nor glow plug light when ignition turned on, and i could hear a relay buzzing at times. You also need to have a small screwdriver set with the proper size torx bit, because without that, you cannot access the relays. Cost me a tow of more than miles and several hours tracking a relay down on a saturday. Bought at dealership for about. Put it in and started right up. Thanks thomas!
This happened on my seat cordoba sdi with, km. Luckily the mechanic new what the problem was, probably quite common, and gave me an old one for free, i then bought a new and swapped it.
Great video, nice clean engine bay
