If you don t have a broken spring, will you need a spring compressor to do the job this way?
Do you have to disconnect the abs completely? I saw someone in another video do it and i m not sure if it is an essential step.

If you remove the tie rod end be careful putting it back the video sounds like ft lbs but the spec is ft lbs for a at least

Thank you very much for this video. It saved me a lot of time and money. One note i had to disconnect the front sway bar on my focus on both sides in order to get it out of the way of the lower control arm enough to swing out of the way enough to get the strut out.

Very helpful video. Thank you. Pretty well finished mine now and the tips you gave were very helpful. One more tip though that might help others is that if either or both the torx seat s of the anti roll bar are finished too rusted, there are two flat edges on the back side of the anti roll bar to slip a spanner on to. I didn t realise this until i ruined the anti roll bar! Once again, many thanks.

With the car in the air you could try to pry on the control arm with a pry bar to see if that works. It should be the same procedure as shown in the video. Aauto. Com
I had trouble getting to lower part of the strut back into the steering knuckle completely. The more i jack it up, the more my car goes up but not the strut into the steering knuckle.
Just did this job. There doesn t appear to be any advantage in removing the tie rod. Check for play in the sway bar as it a great time to replace it if you re getting clunking. There is a bulletin on this.
