Hi, i m in the process of restoring our old vw mk cabrio and want everything back to new or better. When is it necessary to actually replace the two tie rods and not just the outer ends? How can you tell if the inside socket joint is worn out? The car has k miles as of today we got it at k so i have no idea if its ever been done before. I m replacing the struts, control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rods ends, and tie rod boots. Should i go ahead and do the actual tie rods too?
Very helpful, thanks! That tool costs around. Or so, and really is necessary. Lisle makes one. Harbor freight makes one too, but it is very poorly finished and the crowsfoot parts don t fit true to size. The inner tie rod end boots are about. Each. Just replace them while you are at it.
Thanks alot. I got a golf mk and i need to replace those tie rods p
I did this without the tool and didn t have too much trouble. Would have appreciated having a tool tho lol.
Nice video, is going to my fix mk playlist.
Great video. Thanks, helps out alot.
