Set your meter too miliivolts and test each fuse without pulling them out and reading means power is flowing and that circuit is drawing power. Cheers

It always best practice to do any electrical test with a fully charged battery, but this test it could be half charged.
Also does it matter which battery terminal you use for the multimeter test?

You can see it in the video it is on the positive terminal, and the probe is on the post, when you disconnect the terminal any drain then goes through the meter

Yup. The zener diode is part of the unit. Glad you got it fixed, but the darn things are hugely over priced. I ve got a weekend shack of grid with a v solar panel. Diode i use costs p from maplins.
It was the rectifier unit inside the alternator that had gone. With this video s help and a few phone calls i ended up spending for a rectifier unit and an hour to fit it and refurb my alternator. A damn sight cheaper than a new alternator.

I would have just disconnected the battery then put meter in series, but then i have to re set radio code. What ahppens to the central locking? Modern cars are a pain in the butt!
